New York EBT System Is Now Available

The New York State changeover to the new EBT vendor was successfully completed and the Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) system is now available for use. This includes access for food and cash purchases or cash withdrawals, as well as access to the EBT toll-free customer service helpline, 1-888-328-6399.

EBT cardholders must use the new ebtEDGE mobile app, and new ebtEDGE online client portal to access card information and functions electronically. Clients who used the previous client portal and app must create a new account by clicking on the Cardholder Portal option at www.ebtEDGE.com or by downloading the ebtEDGE mobile app (available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store) to register for access to the new sites.

EBT cardholders that used the Card Lock/Unlock feature on the previous portal or mobile app, now called Card Freeze/Unfreeze, and had their cards in “locked” status as of Saturday, May 18 must use the new client portal www.ebtEdge.com or the ebtEdge mobile app in order to now “unlock” or “unfreeze” their card before they will be able to use it.

Your EBT card will stay the same and does not need to be replaced. Your PIN will not be changed or reset, and you should use the same PIN unless you changed your PIN on Saturday, May 18, 2024 by calling the customer service helpline and using the automated system. Clients who accessed the system to change their PIN at any time on Saturday May 18 must redo their PIN selection now that the system is back up. As a reminder, cardholders are encouraged to change their PIN often as a way to reduce the risk of fraudulent transactions and benefit theft.

The EBT customer service helpline remains the same and Cardholders can call 1-888-328-6399 for help with an EBT card.
